SEMINAR ON INTERCULTURAL LIVING
CAPE COAST - GHANA - September 2013

First week

   Some fifteen OLA sisters gathered in Cape Coast, Ghana for the 4th edition of seminar on intercultural living for sisters going on mission ad extra the first time.The participants' nationalities includes Ghana, Togo, Benin, Cote d'Ivoire, Egypt, Burkina Faso and Nigeria.

   On Sunday afternoon, the participants had a brief introduction to the programme.
They introduced themselves, where they are missioned to, as well as their expectations for the seminar. 
   The opening mass was said on Monday the 2nd of September graced by the presence of the Superior General, Rev. Sr. Felicia Harry and the Provincial Superior, Rev. Sr. Elizabeth Amoako-Arhen. The two Superiors later addressed the participants.



   The speaker for the first week was Rev. Sr. Kathleen McGarvey, OLA on the theme: INTERCULTURAL LIVING - Interreligious dialogue & Intercultural dialogue.

   The session which lasted from Monday to Friday morning included the sharing on the richness of the participants' individual cultures, group discussion on the answers to the questionnaires sent to participants as part of the preparations before the seminar.
   The climax was the intercultural evening prayer (with the presentation of cultural symbols) the Muslim/ Christian Prayer, which included prayer from the Qu'ran rich in promoting culture, peace and harmony of community life.
   After prior explanation of the Cape Coast "Fetu Afahye" Festival during the week, the participants had the occasion in the afternoon of Saturday 7th September to attend the climax of the Festival, to witness the parade, dance and durbar of the Chiefs, Asafo Companies and people of the Oguaa traditional area. It was a memorable experience.
The participants look forward to another rewarding week.
